Staff noted a last-minute editorial correction in Section 59C (traffic visibility triangle): the word "not" will be removed so that landscaping, fences and walls 30 inches or shorter are permitted within the visibility triangle. Staff pointed commissioners to the site-standards page in the draft and confirmed the published draft updated through 5/19/2025 was the version being forwarded.
Commissioners then asked clarifying questions about changes flagged in the draft, including new language on home occupations and outdoor storage. Staff told the commission the home-occupation language is intended to prevent businesses from generating vehicular traffic "in excess of what's normally generated" by a residence and that normal residential shipments (for example, Amazon and UPS deliveries) would not be banned. On outdoor storage, staff explained that recreational vehicles may be stored if they meet the requirement to be behind the front building line or otherwise conform to driveway length requirements.
Several commissioners emphasized that the adopted ordinance and map should remain a "work in progress" and be returned to the commission for future amendments where warranted. The commission's recommendation will now go to city council for consideration and adoption.
