Committee approves mentor stipend, hires and capital quotes; overnight trip approved

At its June 11 meeting the Biddeford Public Schools committee approved several routine but consequential actions in unanimous votes.
The committee approved the PLC/SS mentor stipend after a motion and second (motion moved by John; seconded by Marie). The board then approved a motion to hire two additional Ed Tech positions aimed at supporting multilingual learners; administrators said anticipated state enrollment-based supplemental funds tied to October counts will fund the positions. The finance committee recommended seeking firm quotes for an estimated $500,000 capital list of projects and the board moved and seconded a motion to pursue those quotes. The committee also approved an overnight outdoor wilderness field trip.
Each motion passed without recorded dissent during the meeting.
Administrators noted that some items presented as informational included the release of bid documents for a building project (pre-bid walkthrough and nine contractors expressing interest). Those bid-release items were informational and did not require board action at the meeting.
