Town parks and communications manager Shell Smart told the council on Oct. 28 that Clarkdale has signed a service agreement with survey vendor Polco to conduct its biennial community satisfaction survey using nationally benchmarked questions. The town plans to mail postcards to every household, use Polco’s platform (including two years of unlimited access provided as part of the contract), and run a 17-week survey window so results can be used in strategic-planning work early next year.
Smart said the vendor’s national-question set will allow Clarkdale to benchmark results against similarly sized communities in Arizona and nationwide and that staff hope the postcard outreach will increase response rates above the prior survey’s 312 responses. "They also gave us a bonus of two years of unlimited use of their platform," Smart said, adding the town will present the vendor’s findings to the council remotely when ready.
Council members asked about the survey timeline, response-rate goals and operational use of the platform; staff responded that national benchmarks will inform a formal response-rate goal and that the vendor will present findings after the survey period ends. No council action was required at the Oct. 28 meeting; the item was an informational update.
