Council votes to meet in closed session to discuss personnel matter

The council voted on Nov. 14, 2024, to move into a closed session to consider a personnel matter concerning one or more specific appointees, employees or officials, the presiding chair said.

Pursuant to Maryland Code, General Provisions Article §3-305(b)(1), the chair said the subject met the legal standard for a closed meeting. "Pursuant to Maryland code general provisions article section 3,305 B 1, the topic is a personnel matter concerning 1 or more specific appointees, employees, or officials," the chair stated.

The chair then asked for a motion to move into closed session. "I'll entertain a motion for the council to meet in closed session," the chair said; a motion was made and the chair recorded that it was "moved by Council member Lukhi, seconded by Council member Katz." The chair asked those in favor to indicate by raising their hands, but the open meeting minutes do not record an individual roll-call tally or a numerical vote.

The chair announced the council would meet in the 3rd Floor Council Conference Room for the closed session and declared the open portion of the meeting adjourned. No additional details about the personnel matter, including who would be discussed or any expected actions to follow the closed session, were provided in the open meeting record.
