Duplin County Schools honor scholarship winners and newly National Board‑Certified teachers

The presenter noted Gonzalez had multiple college acceptances, including Ivy League universities, and the transcript records that Gonzalez has chosen to attend Yale University in the fall.
Human Resources — speaking as Dr. Brown — recognized teachers who achieved National Board Certification for the 2025–26 school year. Dr. Brown named Tanya Powers, a business teacher at East Duplin High School, and Anna Smith, an English teacher at North Duplin Junior‑Senior High School, as present and celebrated two additional certified teachers in absentia, Carolina Rocha and Morgan Taylor. Dr. Brown summarized the certification process and noted that teachers who earn National Board Certification receive a 12% salary differential.
The board applauded the students and educators for the recognitions and thanks were extended to families and school staff. No action was required for these items; they were ceremonial recognitions on the agenda.
