Magistrate finds multiple owners in violation, records fines and authorizes liens in Alachua County hearing

The Alachua County special magistrate recorded several penalty findings during the May hearing, including guilty findings, prosecution costs and authorizations to place liens where respondents owe county fees.
In one penalty finding the county said William Harrell was guilty and not in compliance; the record lists prosecution costs of $350, a daily fine of $100 and a total outstanding fine of $18,050 as of the final compliance date. The magistrate discussed lien authority to collect prosecution costs where respondents do not pay.
The county also asked for a lien in Case 26‑000462 (Panola) for $126.33 to recover GFL pickup charges and administrative fees; the magistrate authorized the lien. Several other matters were found guilty but in compliance, including Veil & Neil (Case 26‑000172), who were recorded as in compliance with prosecution costs of $4.20.
The magistrate reminded respondents that once they achieve compliance they may petition for reduction of fines and that compliance letters issued by code staff will stop fines from accruing.
