Superintendent: district security camera project funded by Measure G; preschool openings and school events announced

Superintendent Christine Shefferly told the Fillmore Unified School District board April 21 that the district’s security camera project is funded by Measure G, the general obligation bond voters approved in 2022, correcting an earlier statement that had referred to Measure V.

Shefferly said Andrea McNeil initially presented the bond facilities update on May 20 and that subsequent contract approval language on June 17 led to an incorrect reference to Measure V. Shefferly said auditors reviewed the matter and confirmed the security camera project is appropriately charged to Measure G and that the project represents an allowable Measure G expenditure.

Shefferly also used her report to thank student-athletes and families, remind the public about preschool registration (children 2 years, 9 months and older), and preview open-house events including an incoming fifth-grade “passport” at Fillmore Middle School intended to orient students. She highlighted elementary and high school career fairs, social media outreach and the district’s 2026–27 calendars coming to the website.

Trustees offered congratulations for athletic recognitions and expressed appreciation for district staff. There was no board objection to the funding clarification; trustees thanked Shefferly and asked staff to continue transparent communication about bond-funded projects.

The clarification is recorded on the public meeting record and the board confirmed that the security camera contract approval referenced in prior presentations will proceed under Measure G funding.
