Fillmore Unified board approves two expulsions, ratifies March payroll and consent items

The Fillmore Unified School District governing board voted unanimously April 21 to accept administrative recommendations in two student expulsion cases and approved its consent calendar, which included ratification of March payroll totaling $3,673,470.14.

Board President Trustee Palacio called for a motion on expulsion case 25-26-05; Trustee Balick moved to approve the staff recommendation and Trustee Rangel seconded. The board conducted a roll-call vote and the motion carried 5–0. The board then moved and approved the administrative recommendation for expulsion case 25-26-07 by the same margin; both votes were recorded as five ayes, zero nays and zero abstentions.

Earlier in the meeting trustees moved to approve the consent calendar (items 1–10), enacting routine matters by a single motion. The consent items included approval of minutes from the April 7, 2026 meeting; personnel order 25-26-18; ratification of accounts payable and purchase orders for March; the certificated and classified payroll for March 1–31, 2026 in the amount of $3,673,470.14; approval and ratification of contracts; acceptance of donations; and authorization for an overnight field trip for students to attend the migrant speech and debate state tournament in Monterey from May 1–3, 2026.

Trustees voiced no additional discussion on these votes. President Palacio reported out items from the earlier closed session, including acceptance of an employee resignation, and confirmed the meeting’s formal actions.

The board adjourned the meeting at 7:47 p.m.
