Board accepts Fillmore Unified 2024-25 financial audit; auditor issues clean opinion

Jeff Nigro of Nigro & Nigro, PC presented the Fillmore Unified School District's 2024-25 financial audit and told trustees the audit opinion is "unmodified" ' a clean opinion ' for the district's financial statements.
Nigro described the audit process, including site visits and testing of attendance and ASB procedures, and said the firm conducted several hundred hours of audit work. "The opinion of the audit report is what we call unmodified. That's a clean opinion," Nigro said, adding there were no findings over financial reporting and no findings over federal programs. He noted a few state-compliance area findings and said auditors provided some routine internal-control recommendations for ASB procedures and site-level practices.
After the presentation, trustees moved to accept the 2024-25 financial audit; the motion passed unanimously as recorded.
The board will receive any required follow-up on the state-compliance findings in next year's audit cycle, and the auditor said the firm has already started planning next year's work.
