Fremont council approves multiple reappointments, a liquor license and a TIF-related completion certificate

The City of Fremont City Council on June 11, 2024, approved a slate of routine and nonroutine items, including several board reappointments, confirmation of a new city engineer and a resolution authorizing a certificate of completion and issuance of a TIF note for RD Leasing Phase 2.
Mayor Joey Spellleberg opened the meeting and read a proclamation designating the week of June 15, 2024, as Nebraska Art Clubs Week. After several ceremonial items, the council moved through appointments and confirmations. Brandon Ramirez was appointed to the police department after the mayor said Ramirez had completed all requirements. The council also approved reappointments and appointments across multiple advisory boards, including the Airport Advisory Board (Jeff Peterson), the Housing Rehabilitation Board (Amber Barton, Ryan Fiala, Terry Seawall and Katie Carlson), the Parks and Recreation Board (Connie Geese and Wendy Earleywine), the Ridge Cemetery Board (Kelly Skinner), and the Utility and Infrastructure Board (Todd Hansen).
In a personnel action, the council approved Resolution 2024-151 confirming Troy Shaben as city engineer; the mayor thanked outgoing Justin Zedterman for his service and said staff will begin recruiting to fill vacancies in public works. City Attorney Travis Jacot presented Resolution 2024-006, a certificate of completion for RD Leasing Phase 2 and authorization to issue the associated TIF note; Jacot said an amendment for Phase 3 is expected in June or July. Council members approved these measures by voice vote, typically 6-0.
At a public hearing, staff recommended approval of a class C liquor license for Lane's End LLC doing business as the Peachtree Lounge at 1725 East Military Avenue; the mayor opened the hearing, received no public comment, and the council voted to recommend approval 6-0.
