Ringgold County supervisors approve utility permits, IRVM plan, roof corrections and personnel actions in unanimous votes

At its May 11 meeting the Ringgold County Board of Supervisors passed a series of unanimous resolutions addressing utility permits, a vegetation-management plan, courthouse roofing corrections and a sheriff department personnel action.
The board approved Resolution RC26-82, adopting an ITC utility permit, and Resolution RC26-83, adopting a Windstream utility permit. Both motions were made by Supervisor Randy Taytor and seconded by Supervisor Steve Knapp; the votes were recorded as unanimous and the auditor attested to passage.
By Resolution RC26-84 the board adopted an Integrated Roadside Vegetation Management (IRVM) plan and authorized submission to the Iowa Department of Transportation for approval. The minutes state that, once approved by IDOT, the county will be eligible for state grants and funding to assist with purchases such as seed and equipment.
The board also approved Resolution RC26-87 to move forward with corrective roofing work by Johns Manvitte for the Ringgold County Courthouse in Mount Ayr. The minutes record that the contractor acknowledged an installation issue, agreed to complete corrective work necessary to satisfy warranty and installation requirements, and will do so at no additional cost to the county. The chairperson was authorized to execute documents necessary to facilitate completion of the corrective work and warranty process.
On personnel matters, the board approved Resolution RC26-86 recognizing Deputy Shannon Arends’ probationary period as complete by May 17, 2026; the sheriff had requested the waiver from an original probationary date of July 30. The board also reviewed and approved departmental quarterly reports and moved forward with the claims to be paid May 13, 2026. All motions during the session passed with unanimous AYES and no NAYS.
The meeting minutes show routine procedural actions — agenda approval, minutes approval and adjournment — were handled by motion and unanimous consent.
