Cheyenne County — During its April 29 meeting, the Cheyenne County Board of Commissioners approved an in‑kind letter of support for the Town of Cheyenne Wells’ splash pad grant application, granted a Road and Bridge employee two additional vacation days to attend volunteer fire training, and discussed temporary fairgrounds electrical measures to serve vendors at this year’s fair.
Commissioner RJ Jolly moved, with a second from Commissioner Rick Pelton, to approve and sign the in‑kind letter supporting Cheyenne Wells’ grant application for a splash pad; the motion passed. The letter signals county support for the town’s recreational infrastructure grant effort.
A Road and Bridge employee in District 1 requested vacation hours to attend volunteer fire department training. Commissioner Jolly moved, with a second from Commissioner Pelton, to grant the employee two extra vacation days; the board approved and stated similar future requests will be decided on a case‑by‑case basis.
On fairgrounds electrical upgrades, the board discussed how to provide enough power for vendors before completion of the full electrical project. Chandler Kent was asked to draft a separate quote for panels and cords to operate the fair with a generator this year. The minutes record no dollar amounts for the temporary solution.
Other routine business included approval of expense vouchers and warrants and scheduling quarterly meetings with other elected officials beginning May 11. Commissioner Pelton also indicated he intends to draft a letter to the State Transportation Commission for its May 20 meeting.
