Trustees approve public-works purchases, SCADA upgrade, contract amendment and small engineering engagement

Trustees approved a set of purchases and contract changes including vehicle and equipment purchases, a SCADA server ($156,500) and radios ($153,500) with bid waivers, a $14,100 retaining-wall contract amendment, and a $2,500 engineering easement proposal; payroll and disbursements were also approved.
At its May 14 meeting the Village of New Lenox Board of Trustees approved several procurement and contract items requested by public-works staff and outside contractors, including equipment purchases, an IT/SCADA upgrade, a retaining-wall contract amendment and a small engineering engagement for easement language.
Mark, speaking for Public Works, said the requested vehicle and equipment purchases were previously budgeted and in many cases available through Sourcewell or special government pricing. He asked the board to approve those purchases; the trustees voted aye on roll call.
Mark also recommended installing a separate SCADA server at the public-works facility to keep sensitive water data off the village’s primary server and to provide redundancy once the new water resource recovery facility is online. He presented a proposal from TRYR for $156,500 and asked the board to waive formal bidding. "This is the next phase of our water resource recovery facility," Kirk said during the first-read discussion, and Mark added that the server would secure operations and provide redundancy. The board voted to waive bidding and approved the TRYR proposal.
Separately, TriAir Systems proposed replacing aging network radios for $153,500. Mark said the radios were causing glitches and missing data; the board approved that proposal after waiving the bid requirement.
Will briefed the board on a contract amendment for the Crossroads subdivision Lot 1 retaining wall. After additional utility work and solar borings, the retaining wall needed to be enlarged; the trustees approved a $14,100 increase to the Northern Builders contract on roll call.
Will also sought approval for a $2,500 engineering proposal to add easement language at the Pete site to accommodate water-main work and an easement request from ComEd; the trustees approved the proposal.
Finally, trustees approved bi-monthly disbursements of $6,026,073.06 and a payroll run of $524,436.83. All listed motions passed on roll-call votes of trustees present and the mayor.
The board directed staff to proceed with installations, contract adjustments and paperwork for the easement language; staff indicated staggered lead times for some vehicle deliveries.
