Board approves routine expenditures, schedules sealcoating and budget hearings and OKs A/V contract

The Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors approved routine fiscal and administrative items during its May 5 meeting, including a resolution authorizing payment of county claims across multiple funds and several consent agenda items.
Supervisor Ritch Kurtenbach moved, and Tavis Hall seconded, a resolution authorizing the county auditor to issue payments for a list of claims and settlements covering numerous county funds; the motion passed unanimously. The minutes include detailed line items across funds such as General Basic, Secondary Roads and others.
On the consent agenda the board approved the sale of Road Department equipment (examples listed in minutes: a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, a 1993 Vermeer woodchipper, a 2013 hydro seeder and a 2010 Gradall), accepted a permit for underground fiber installation by Waterloo Fiber on several county roads, and accepted voluntary settlement agreements submitted by County Assessor T.J. Koenigsfeld under Iowa Code 441.44.
The board also directed the county auditor to advertise a public hearing/bid opening for the FY27 sealcoating project to be held at 9:05 a.m. on May 26, 2026, and directed the finance director to advertise a 9:10 a.m. May 26 public hearing on a proposed FY26 budget amendment. Both motions were approved unanimously.
Finally, supervisors approved an agreement with Marco Technologies LLC for audio‑visual rework in the supervisors boardroom for $7,741.23, with the chair authorized to sign the contract; that resolution passed without recorded opposition. The meeting opened by recognizing William Heath Jr. of the sheriff’s office for 20 years of service.
