County Assessor Val Sore asked the Kandiyohi County Board on Feb. 3 to approve a tax abatement for Louise Seimer for the residence that burned on Jan. 30, 2025 at 1240th Avenue NE in Colfax Township (parcel 120260010). Sore said the abatement request covers the value of the lost structure for the months in 2025 when the home was uninhabitable, while land and outbuildings remain taxed. The tax reduction was $869.
Commissioner Dale Anderson moved to approve the abatement; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
