District presents first read of Title I–V grant applications and needs assessment

Dr. McCorvey presented the division's needs assessment and the first reading of Title I–V (ESEA) federal grant applications for 2026–27. She described a multi‑data approach—SOL and benchmark scores, attendance, discipline and stakeholder input—to shape proposed uses of federal funds and emphasized that the application is a first read, to be returned next month for approval.
On Title I, she said the grant's purpose is to close achievement gaps and to support pre‑K, reading and math interventions, family engagement and supplemental instructional materials. "The purpose of your title 1 grant is to provide, all children a fair and equitable and highly quality education to close achievement gaps," Dr. McCorvey said. She explained the district uses Title II for professional development and mentoring, Title IV for well‑rounded education, safe and healthy students and effective technology use, and Title V for rural‑education support that can supplement high‑school resources.
Dr. McCorvey noted the application is built now and will be amended when final numbers are released in the fall; staff will return with a second read and vote next month.
