Dallas County Conservation Board flags year‑end budget pressure on several fund lines

Director Curt Cable reviewed budget lines at the end of March and told the board April 14 that several funds are likely to be tight before the fiscal year closes. He said interpretive and water‑quality items and Wilderness Trek purchases still need to be completed and are likely to cause the department to seek budget amendments. The custodial supplies line is overbudget for the year though major purchases are complete, electrical costs will be close to budget, and vehicle equipment repairs have required significant expense for mowers and tractors.
Cable said the restroom facility line covers porta‑potty costs and that the Conservation Department maintains restrooms in Adel and Linden; he will reach out to the City of Adel to ask whether the city can assume responsibility for the trailhead restroom location.
Board members heard the update but took no formal budget action at this meeting; staff signaled they will return with amendments or further details as needed.
