The Northfield School Board approved the negotiated contract for Dr. Tim Anderson as the district’s next superintendent at a special meeting May 4, voting unanimously to make the appointment effective July 1, 2026.
The board chair said the district conducted a multi-stage search with assistance from the Minnesota School Boards Association and consultant Amy Jordan, held a public Q&A posted to the district website, and made a community input survey available with help from Kelly Spillman Kramer. "The board chose doctor Tim Anderson for our next superintendent," the chair said, noting the board interviewed six candidates and conducted second interviews with two finalists, with written input from 15 stakeholders present for round two.
The chair outlined Anderson’s background, saying he currently supervises principals, leads a teaching-and-learning division and serves as acting superintendent when the superintendent is absent. The chair also said Anderson began his career as a social studies teacher and has worked as a dean of students and principal and within human resources, contract negotiations and leadership development.
The chair asked for a motion to approve the contract with an effective date of 07/01/2026; a motion and second were made and the chair called the vote. Members responded "aye," and the chair said the motion "unanimously passes." The transcript records no roll-call tally of individual votes.
Following the approval, the board moved to adjourn and the meeting ended.
Next steps: the contract takes effect July 1, 2026. The transcript contains no additional details about contract length, salary, or other terms.
