On a 7-0 vote the Stillwater Area Public Schools board adopted the preliminary proposed property tax levy for 2025 payable in 2026. School board member Alison Sherman moved the levy adoption, and Andrew Thelander seconded; the motion carried unanimously. The board noted the final levy amount will be certified during the Dec. 16, 2025 board meeting; the meeting record did not specify the preliminary or final levy dollar amounts.
The board also approved setting the Truth and Taxation hearing for Dec. 2, 2025. Katie Hockert moved to set the date and Chris Lauer seconded; the motion passed 7-0. The board described the Dec. 16 meeting as the date when the levy will be certified.
The motions were procedural approvals to advance the budget timeline; the meeting record did not include detailed budget figures, the proposed levy rate or estimates of property-tax impact to homeowners. Those figures are customarily provided in budget and levy materials ahead of the Truth and Taxation hearing and will be required for public comment at that hearing.
