DHHS: Merrimack cancer study report pending; commissioners plan community briefing in June

DHHS told the commission an ancillary Merrimack pilot study report is under review and additional grant funding was not secured; a town briefing to orient new residents is scheduled for June 9 and will be livestreamed.
Colleen of the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services updated the commission that an ancillary report from the Merrimack kidney cancer pilot study is drafted and under review and that recent grant applications to the American Cancer Society were not prioritized for funding.
“They hope to have [the ancillary report] ready and available in the next couple of months,” Colleen said. She noted staff changes that may affect timing and said the research team will continue to seek funding.
Separately, commission member Rosemarie said she scheduled a public primer at Merrimack Town Hall on June 9 to help newer residents understand the PFAS history and local resources; the session will be livestreamed and recorded for later viewing.
Members encouraged residents who have testing data to share it with DES staff so it can be considered as part of site assessments and planning.
The commission did not vote on research funding or research priorities at the meeting.
