Mojave Patel, owner of the new Tru by Hilton Brockton, joined city and state officials at a May 2026 ceremony to celebrate the hotel’s opening and the economic boost officials said it brings to the city.
"Some things are worth the wait," said Chris Cooney of the Metro South Chamber of Commerce as he introduced the owner and noted the hotel’s 78 rooms. Cooney said the addition pushes Brockton’s hotel inventory to more than 500 rooms and estimated the local portion of room taxes tied to that inventory at about $875,000 a year.
Patel said the hotel opened to guests last October but that the ceremony was a special opportunity to recognize partners and staff. "This hotel was designed to offer a comfortable, modern, and welcoming experience for every guest," Patel said, and she thanked the Metro South Chamber, city officials and project partners, including financing from Sabre's Bank and management support from Jamsen Hotel Management.
Councilor Shirley Aisak welcomed the investment in the Westgate Mall area and said the project was long anticipated through planning and permitting. "We really appreciate you investing in Brockton," Aisak said, offering the city’s support for future expansion.
State Representative Rita Mendez presented a citation signed by the speaker of the House and offered the legislature’s good wishes for the project’s continued success in the district.
Mayor Moises Rodriguez called the development a centerpiece for local hotels and said his administration is "open for business." He presented an official city citation recognizing the grand opening at 245 Westgate Drive and told the owners the city would continue to support business growth.
Organizers invited attendees to a ribbon cutting followed by a champagne toast, catering and facility tours. Event remarks thanked volunteers and local partners who helped secure entitlements and construction support, and the owner’s family indicated interest in future local development.
No formal votes or policy actions were recorded at the event. The ceremony focused on the hotel’s opening, its financing partners and the anticipated local revenue from increased overnight stays.
