On March 20, 2023 commissioners recorded two dealer bids for new motor-graders and tabled the decision until a later date. In March and later meetings the board continued to discuss financing options, trade-in values and timing for purchases. Minutes show a March motion accepting a Caterpillar bid for $316,600 (vote recorded with Keiser absent), but subsequent minutes and claims later in 2023 show an invoice or claim to Murphy Tractor & Equipment Co. for a 2019 John Deere 772G ($265,000) in August, suggesting later procurement activity and changes in the vendor or model.
The board also procured motor-grader blades: in November commissioners rescinded a prior blade acceptance and later approved a bid from B’s Enterprises for 200 grader blades at $142 each (total $28,400).
Commissioners said the equipment purchases are part of the county’s road-improvement planning, including the One and Six Year Road Plan, and discussed financing options and trade-ins while coordinating with lenders and vendors.
What happens next: county staff will reconcile procurement records and inventory; road department staff will integrate new equipment into maintenance scheduling and capital repayment plans.
