A member recommended that administrators resume regular collaboration meetings — weekly or monthly depending on schedules — so principals and district leaders can coordinate calendars and avoid conflicting events. “I just feel like a lot of things could be solved if we have a round table discussion... for our administrators to come in and to talk about the upcoming month,” one committee member said (Committee member (S7)).
Staff clarified the difference between district policy and school handbooks: principals create school-level staff handbooks for day-to-day operations, while district policies are approved by the board. Staff proposed posting both district policies and school handbooks online and allowing employees to attest electronically that they have read required policies.
Board members asked staff to compile district policies and school handbooks into a more user-friendly format and to bring recommended changes back for approval so that staff and families have consistent, accessible guidance across schools. No formal votes were taken on these requests during the workshop.
