North Brookfield appoints Zachary Ramaska as lead water operator

The North Brookfield Board of Selectmen voted April 7 to appoint Zachary Ramaska as lead operator in the town water department.
Ramaska, who previously worked for the water department and described gaining experience elsewhere before deciding to return, told the board he has treatment and distribution licenses. Mr. Flynn and water-department leadership recommended Ramaska for the role, saying his prior experience means ‘‘there's not going to be a training period’’ and he can step into the job quickly.
The board made a motion to appoint Ramaska, identified the position in the warrant as lead operator, and voted unanimously to approve the appointment.
The appointment follows the department's need to replace a departing operator and aims to maintain continuous coverage of treatment and distribution responsibilities. The board welcomed Ramaska and expressed hope he will remain in the position.
The board also handled routine business at the meeting, including approval of payroll and warrants and other personnel items.
