McLennan County: ARPA-funded water projects report 'on track,' $600,000 left for non-arsenic work

County consultants from Blackwood, Andrew & Dunham told the McLennan County Commissioners Court on March 3 that ARPA-funded water projects are largely on schedule and progressing toward the federal spending deadline at the end of 2026.
"All of our projects have been started," a consultant reported. "We have nine; about half of them are complete 100%." Consultants said one project (the City of Resil generator project) had recently been bid and accepted and that most supply and manufacturing delays that slowed early work have been resolved.
On finance, staff said about $600,000 remained on non-arsenic projects; arsenic-related funds are over halfway spent and are largely tied up with a few larger projects. The court approved payment application No. 4 for ARPA water projects and later approved the recording of the related pay application for L1B.
Consultants and commissioners discussed contingency planning if excess ARPA funds become available: remaining funds cannot be used to create new projects but may be reallocated to already-approved projects if needed. The consultants also said they expect to finish the remaining work in time to meet federal deadlines and that they will continue monitoring procurement and equipment delivery schedules.
