Board approves Apple lease, Meta Solutions services and building contracts

The Pickerington Local School District board on May 11 approved several procurement items, including a lease-purchase resolution with Apple to refresh staff MacBooks, an annual Meta Solutions Services agreement, a Zimmerman contract to furnish the Pickerington Kindergarten Center and a Tayevco contract for building readiness at the newly named Ridgeview Middle School.

Mr. Weinheimer explained the Apple purchase, saying the staff MacBooks are on a roughly seven- to eight-year replacement cycle and "Apple will not support security fixes beyond a certain measure" for older machines. Board members discussed the security and support rationale; the lease-purchase was moved, seconded and approved on roll call.

The Meta Solutions Services agreement for FY27 is an annual technology-services contract. District staff explained that part of the funding will come from the systems technology operating budget and from activity funds tied to student technology insurance to offset general-fund expense.

The board approved the Zimmerman purchase using construction funds for furnishings at the Pickerington Kindergarten Center and approved a Tayevco contract for building readiness services at Ridgeview Middle School. For the Zimmerman furnishing item, the board clarified that those expenditures will be drawn from preapproved construction funds.

Each procurement item was presented by staff with a brief explanation of funding source and purpose, and each motion passed on roll call during the meeting.
