Pike County School Corp opened bids for food-service management and read proposals from vendors including Aramark and Chartwells during a public meeting. The clerk read the first packet from Aramark, then located and read the Chartwells proposal.
The clerk read Aramark's proposed rates as: lunch $3.99 per meal, breakfast $2.66 per meal, an equipment meal rate of $3.99, and snacks at $1.33. The clerk said Aramark's projected client return was "just over 21,000" and cited a five-year return figure noted in the packet as "122,000 501." The clerk then reviewed Chartwells' proposal, reading a lunch rate of $3.99, a breakfast rate of $2.45 (including a summer breakfast rate of $2.45), summer lunch $3.99, and a snack rate of $1.25; the clerk identified an estimated return figure of 11,463 for Chartwells.
The clerk and staff also discussed packet handling and delivery logistics, noting some packets had been taped for transport. At one point the clerk read additional per-student figures shown in the materials—student lunch $4.29, student breakfast $2.60 and an after-school snack at $1.15—while saying they were not seeing the exact projected revenue in that section.
"All items will be taken under advisement and reviewed," the clerk said, adding, "I'll be emailing everyone who submitted a bid, so you all know the outcome." The clerk thanked vendors for visiting the school and preparing detailed submissions.
No motions or votes were taken during the bid-opening segment; district staff said they would review the proposals and notify bidders of the outcome.
