During board member comments on March 23, a member told the Parks Board that Alpine's emergency services contract is ending and that the EMS task force recommends exploring formation of an emergency services district for North Brewster County.
The board member circulated a petition seeking signatures from registered voters and property owners in North Brewster County. "Signing the petition does not in any way say that you're voting. The vote will come later and that's only if the petition is accepted and the county does call an election," the board member said.
No county officials were present to respond. The board member asked colleagues to sign or to let the petition be passed around. The discussion closed with reminders about local volunteer events, an upcoming Volunteer Fair on May 13, and offers from local leadership groups to assist with tree planting and other summer projects.
Next steps: petition circulation to continue; any further action depends on the county's review and whether an election is scheduled.
