Madison Consolidated Schools board approves Chromebooks, intercom upgrade and summer partnerships

The Madison Consolidated Schools board voted April 8 to approve routine consent items and several action items, including technology purchases and memoranda of understanding for summer programming and athletic support.

Dr. Brown recommended approval of the consent agenda (items 26‑101 through 26‑108), which included minutes, financial reports, construction payments and a package of donations and field‑trip requests; the board approved the consent agenda by roll call.

On action items Dr. Brown proposed purchasing 950 Chromebooks for grades 3, 4, 5 and 9, including protective cases and warranties from Electronic Strategies; the motion passed after a roll call. The board also approved an intercom‑server upgrade from Audio Enhancement to replace equipment reaching end‑of‑life and to purchase a new intercom kiosk for Anderson and the high school.

The board approved a memorandum of understanding with the Boys and Girls Club of Jefferson County to provide five weeks of free summer instruction and care to students under a grant; the motion passed with one abstention (Dustin). The board also approved an agreement with Dr. Lucy Laor Higgins of Higgins Performance Consulting to provide sport and performance psychology consulting to Madison Consolidated High School student athletes and coaching staff; the transcript records a maximum annual compensation not to exceed $6,000 and lists per‑session rates in the service agreement.

Dr. Brown introduced a summer‑school proposal that would offer courses at students’ home schools with transportation provided; the item was presented to the board for approval as part of the action docket.
