Lancaster School Board approves pay increase, confirms four administrative hires

The board approved Item 11 — an increase in compensation for board members — after a motion by Julie Easter and a second from Dwayne W.; the motion passed 3-0. The board then moved through several personnel approvals under Item 14.
Among the hires, the board approved Andre Jones as principal. The board read Jones’s background at the meeting, noting 12 years as a biology teacher, three years as an assistant principal and five years as a principal within the Lancaster district; Jones stood and addressed the board, saying he appreciated the opportunity and support and looked forward to the challenge. “I want to say thank you distinguished board members. I appreciate the opportunity to take this to the next heights,” Jones said.
The board also approved Jenny (Ms. Mori) as a principal after trustees summarized her 12 years in district education work and two master’s degrees in curriculum and instruction and educational administration. Ms. Mori thanked the board and family members in attendance.
Brandy, approved for a child-nutrition leadership role, was introduced with a 15-year history in district food services; she told the board she appreciated the recognition and support. Mrs. Blanchard, approved for another administrative role and noted for 34 years of service and a recent master’s degree in educational leadership, also addressed the trustees and thanked them and her supporters.
The personnel motions were routine and passed unanimously; board members offered congratulations to the new hires and emphasized continuity of experienced staff.
The meeting also included a public comment in which Mr. Smith, who identified himself as a district employee and parent, described repeated bullying incidents involving his daughter at New Vista and asked the board to ensure better protection and communication. The board acknowledged the comment and a board member expressed agreement that the district must address such concerns. No formal disciplinary or investigatory action was announced during the meeting.
The board adjourned at approximately 6:22 p.m.
