Council to consider Ordinance 38 to update flood-damage protections to state model language

St. Bernard’s law director briefed the Committee of the Whole on Dec. 12 about a proposed ordinance to update local flood-damage protection rules and said the state provided model language the village is working to adopt.
The director described Ordinance 38 as a modification to Chapter 1331 to comply with language requested by the State of Ohio and said the current draft contains typographical items the office will correct before final introduction. She told council the state had sent a draft they want the village to use and that only a couple of items remain under review.
Council moved to place Ordinance 38 on the table for consideration next week; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The law director said if the village cannot resolve the remaining items with the state before Thursday, she will introduce the ordinance in the new year instead.
No formal changes were adopted at the committee meeting; final legal language and formal adoption will follow subsequent review and (if introduced) council readings.
