The Rohnert Park City Council on Oct. 8 introduced Ordinance 985, which staff said amends municipal code sections related to city population and councilmember salaries, and waived first reading. The ordinance was introduced by motion and approved by roll call with three yes votes and two members absent.
City staff told the council they had returned with a draft ordinance as directed at the Sept. 10 meeting and summarized timing: staff will publish a summary and the council is scheduled to consider adoption at its Oct. 22 meeting. Staff said that, if adopted, the revised compensation would be processed with the pay period beginning Dec. 15 and reflected in paychecks issued Jan. 10, 2025; staff also said the fiscal impact had been budgeted.
Councilmember Rodriguez moved to introduce the ordinance and waive first reading; the measure passed by roll call (three ayes, two absent). No members of the public spoke during the public hearing on this item.
Because the staff presentation included several garbled numeric figures in the meeting transcript, the council packet and posted ordinance summary should be consulted for precise dollar amounts and the formal ordinance text; staff said they will publish the ordinance summary following introduction and before the Oct. 22 adoption vote.
