Director reviews FY25 work plan and introduces Warrenville’s first economic development specialist

Amy Emory, Warrenville's community and economic development director, presented the final FY2025 work-plan update at the April 14 committee meeting and highlighted progress across core program areas despite staffing shortages during the year.
Emory noted the city will begin ERP testing and launch in two weeks and that moving the business-licensing program into community development will allow staff to offer enhanced business services, marketing and educational resources. Emory introduced Liam Walker as the new economic development specialist, describing his background working at a university and at JP Morgan Chase. "He's developed a survey instrument ... and he's been meeting folks in our region," Emory said, and added the team plans to use new technology, including AI, to improve reporting and outreach.
Emory also thanked Mayor Brummel for nearly 20 years of service on the committee and noted Brummel's departure on May 15. With no other business the committee adjourned after a motion from Alderman Lockett.
Staff said they will return in July with the FY2026 work plan when the ERP rollout has stabilized and the business-licensing transition will be in place.
