Mount Clemens Farmers Market honored as Michigan’s top market; opens 45th season May 4

Board members of the Mount Clemens Farmers Market attended the commission meeting to present recognition after the market was named Michigan’s number-one favorite in a FarmLean.org vote.
"My name is Ricardo Guzman and I [am] the consumer representative on the board of the Mount Farmers Market," Guzman said, introducing colleagues Joel, Clark (board secretary and owner of Clark Farms) and John Cody, co-market master. Joel told commissioners that FarmLean.org organized the celebration and voting that led to Mount Clemens being selected "Michigan's number one favorite Farmers Market." Commissioners and attendees applauded.
Board members said the market will open its 45th season on Saturday, May 4; they presented jars of homegrown honey to the city as a token of appreciation and posed for photographs. Commissioners, including Mayor Laura Crop, thanked the market volunteers and staff for their work and noted the market as a point of community pride.
Commissioners also noted programmatic support: Project FRESH coupons will be available for seniors to use at the market later in the season, and city staff said they will continue to partner with the market for events and outreach.
The market organizers’ appearance was a ceremonial recognition rather than a formal action item; no vote was required.
