Middletown planning board grants Wave Pond Hotel extension, withdraws one item and continues multiple hearings to May 13

At its regular meeting, the Town of Middletown Planning Board approved several procedural actions: it granted a one-year extension to Wave Pond Hotel LLC for previously approved relief at 38 Purgatory Road, withdrew item 4B without prejudice at the applicant's request, and continued items 4A, 4C, 4D and 4E to the board's next regular meeting on May 13.
David Martin, representing Wave Pond Hotel LLC, said the extension was needed while the applicant addresses financing and reassesses project layout; the board's solicitor recused from the matter and the extension was granted. Gerard Galvin and other counsel told the board a clerical error in the planning department's mailing list led to some Windham Hill abutters not being notified for item 4C; the board ordered renoticing and continued the matter to allow time for any legal briefs from objectors.
Earlier in the meeting the board moved and approved the minutes from the March 11 and March 4 meetings. Committee reports noted spring tree-planting plans from the Tree Commission, an upcoming conservation commission meeting, and a confirmed public hearing for the town’s comprehensive plan on May 11 at the middle school. Members also noted a meeting with the Town Council on May 7.
The board adjourned at the close of business. The planning department will post the May 13 agenda and any renotification materials required for continued items.
