Committee approves temporary outdoor events for haunted house at 241 West Roosevelt

The West Chicago Development Committee voted unanimously to approve a zoning text amendment allowing Five Points Productions to host one outdoor seasonal event per year, for a period not to exceed 60 days, at 241 West Roosevelt.
Staff said the amendment would allow attendant activities such as food trucks and merchandise sales and noted the Plan Commission had given unanimous approval in its review. An attendee asked for clarification, saying, “One event is, that's all they're asking for?” and staff confirmed the measure covers a single extended event over the Halloween period rather than a one-day festival.
Alderman Melissa Birch Ferguson seconded the motion to approve after a roll-call vote by the committee. The roll call recorded Aye votes from Aldermen Chris Swiatek, Melissa Birch Ferguson, Julieta Alcántar-García, Matthew Myers, Denise Carreto-Muñoz and Alderman Stout; the amendment passed.
The amendment will be forwarded per committee procedure for final consideration by the full council or processed to full council if minor adjustments are handled by staff, as discussed by the committee.
The committee moved next to a pulled consent item for further discussion.
