Councilman Osborne previews Midway’s "America 250" events, mural project and Memorial Hill flag kits

Councilman Osborne told the planning commission he wanted to share the city’s yearlong plans tied to the U.S. 250th observance, a program of civic and cultural events running through the year.
Osborne outlined six headline events and several evolving items: a community mural‑collage project made of painted tiles (about 150 tiles were available at the time of the meeting), a Run/Walk/Bike "Run 250" participation series offering pins and certificates, a "Beaks and Peaks" outreach event focusing on local birds of prey, a July 4 evening performance by the Utah Symphony in Midway Town Square, and a fall historical reenactment bus tour that will stage short performances at local sites.
He also described a Memorial Hill flag project: a commemorative flag kit priced at $180 that includes a flagpole, commemorative flag, lighting and a mount; organizers plan a June 15 launch and to display 250 kits up Memorial Hill (installed every 20 feet) through July 11 before returning kits to purchasers. "To kick things off, we already have a $10,000 investment," he said, and noted business sponsorships would be offered that would be recognized by a plaque at Memorial Hill.
Osborne urged residents to check the city website for details and to sign up for events and souvenirs while supplies last.
