The district also approved purchase of one permanent wrestling mat for $29,397.80 from Resolite Mats and two competition mats for $23,206, with funding split between capital outlay and general funds. The purchases were described as necessary replacements—officials said two existing mats are about 25 years old and no longer acceptable for competition.
Board members asked about disposal or reuse of the replaced mats. Officials said older mats cannot be used in competition and that staff will consult board counsel before donating or otherwise disposing of them so the district does not inadvertently create liability.
The board approved both purchase requests by voice vote. Implementation will proceed through the board clerk's issuance of purchase orders and contract review by board counsel.
