The City of Wausau Human Resources Committee reviewed and approved forwarding a request to the city council that would allow a police supervisor accepted into an officer exchange program in Germany to participate while remaining on duty.
Under city policy, training outside the continental U.S. must be approved by the city council. The committee was told the employee will cover all travel expenses; staff asked the applicant to produce a white paper describing what they expect to learn, how that would benefit the Wausau Police Department and how they will share the information upon return.
Committee members asked questions but offered no objection; the committee voted unanimously to approve the request and forward it to council for final approval and any necessary fiscal or administrative review.
The committee’s action authorizes referral to council; final approval will be subject to the council’s review consistent with city policy.
