Lebanon to host Halloween at Fiddlers Grove; mayor schedules July 4 night parade and honors volunteers

Speakers used the opening ceremony to thank volunteers and sponsors who maintain Fiddlers Grove and the fairgrounds. Barney Matthews, a longtime local educator and former director in special education, told the audience, "The Grove doesn't exist without the volunteers that are in here today," and urged continued community support for living-history programs that bring schoolchildren to the site.
Organizers recognized Helen McDavid for her years leading Wilson County Promotions and noted she has handed over executive duties this year; a small presentation was made in her honor.
No formal city action or vote was taken at the ceremony; the announcements are planning-level decisions by local officials and organizers and will require further logistical coordination with event partners.
