U.S. Rep. John Rose praises Wilson County’s Fiddlers Grove, ties local history to national milestone

U.S. Rep. John Rose (R-Tenn.) told attendees at the Wilson County fair opening that the presence of the Tennessee State Fair in Wilson County is “a point of pride” for his 6th Congressional District and for local volunteers.
“It's my great honor and privilege ... to represent the people of the sixth district of Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives,” Rose said, noting he is serving his fourth term. He described his family’s farm, which he said dates to 1799, and said that continuity of place and the work of volunteers make Fiddlers Grove “a special treasure” for the county and the state.
Rose used the local history to frame a broader civic message, urging attendees to think about the future as the nation approaches its semi-quincentennial (the 250th anniversary). “When I wake up every morning I reflect upon the 236-year history that I get to be a part of,” he said, and asked visitors to consider how future generations will remember current preservation efforts.
Rose also thanked organizers, sponsors and volunteers who help run the fair and the living-history programs that bring schoolchildren to the Grove. He closed by commending the event’s volunteers and expressing optimism about the future of the community and the State Fair in Wilson County.
The opening ceremony proceeded with musical performances, guest remarks and a program of acknowledgments; no formal policy actions or votes were taken at the event.
