RSU 05 board approves budget warrants and several personnel actions, then enters executive session

The board approved several personnel motions. Members voted to employ Donna Cassavant as Early Childhood Special Education Assistant Director for the 2026–2027 school year; Donna was introduced and welcomed. Donna addressed the board, saying she was "thrilled to be here" and expressed support for expanding early-childhood special education services in the district.
The board also approved a conversion of a bus-driver/custodian full-time year-round position to a full-time year-round custodian (motion discussed by Cara and Kelly) and approved creating a full-time, year-round van driver/custodian position funded from budgeted van substitute funds (motion moved by Anna; seconded by Valerie). Staff explained these reallocations were intended to secure current employees who are seeking full-time roles and to manage substitute budgeting for transportation.
Finally, the board voted to enter executive session under "1 MRSA section 4056A" for the superintendent's evaluation (motion moved by Kelly; seconded by Karen). The board planned to adjourn from the executive session.
