Hingham School Committee approves routine minutes, KIA guidelines, new accounts and transportation leases

The Hingham School Committee completed routine and operational business during its meeting, approving minutes, electing officers and taking a string of votes on administrative matters.
Elections and minutes: The committee elected Jen Benham chair, Allison Anderson vice chair and Carrie Nee secretary by roll-call votes; members approved four sets of minutes (including amended minutes from 03/10/2025 correcting a school-choice vote).
Kids In Action and rates: The board approved revised Kids In Action (KIA) guidelines for 2026'27, including a 3% across-the-board rate adjustment for teachers, aides and nurses in the program and an increased longevity step for long-serving team leads. The committee also approved increasing strings-instructor rates from $65 to $70 per 45-minute session for 2026'27; the administration said KIA is self-funded and can support the change.
Accounts, grants and transportation: The committee authorized the executive director of business and support services to establish a guidance-department revolving account to manage revenue and expenses for AP exams and related testing programs. It authorized a five-year lease for seven diesel buses with buyout options at term, accepted a grant to cover tuition for a College-Board-endorsed AP Summer Institute course for world-language/AP teacher PD, and declared several older vehicles surplus for disposition.
Each of these motions carried on voice or roll-call votes; no contested outcomes were recorded on the public record.
