Planning commission approves longer recording window for plats that don’t require surety

Staff told the Williamson County Regional Planning Commission that recent requests to add non‑agenda final plats reflected a recurring problem: applicants whose plats do not require posting sureties sometimes could not secure utility district signatures within the current 60‑day recording window.
"The proposed amendment will increase the amount of time to record these final plats without surety from 60 days to 90 days," staff said, adding that plats that do require sureties already have 90 days to post surety and 120 days to record.
Staff recommended approval of the text amendment, explaining the additional 30 days should give applicants sufficient time to acquire the required utility‑district signatures and record the plat. A commissioner moved to approve the staff recommendation, another seconded, and the commission approved the amendment by voice vote.
The commission’s action adopts the recommended text change at the planning commission level and will forward the attached resolution and recommendation to the county commission for consideration as provided in the staff report.
