Belmar awarded Sustainable Jersey bronze; environmental commission presents plaque

Speaking on behalf of the commission, the presenter noted the designation followed a painstaking inventory of borough sustainability practices and thanked the Belmar Police Department, DPW, the Magical Garden volunteers and others for their assistance. "This was the result of a lot of hard work mostly by the people standing next to me," the presenter said.
Councilmembers and attendees applauded the recognition. The commission encouraged residents to stay involved with future sustainability projects and noted ongoing collaboration with the borough engineer and DPW on outfall planning and other coastal resilience efforts.
What happens next: the borough will continue coordination between the Environmental Commission, DPW and engineering staff to pursue sustainable infrastructure and invite community participation in upcoming events.
