The Hope Mills Board of Commissioners administered oaths of office and completed internal leadership elections at its Dec. 1 organizational meeting.
Robbie Hicks, senior resident superior court judge, administered the oath to mayor Jesse Bellflowers. The board also swore in commissioners-elect including Cynthia Hamilton, Brian Marley, Greg Mitchell, Page (commissioner-elect) and Lisa Truml; several of the newly sworn commissioners offered brief remarks expressing gratitude and a commitment to serve the town.
Following oaths, the board held an official election for mayor pro tempore. A motion was made and seconded to elect Hope Page as mayor pro tempore (referred to in the meeting as Mayor Pro Tim/Hope Page); the board voted unanimously and Page was sworn in.
Earlier in the meeting, the board presented outgoing officials with recognitions, including the Order of the Long Leaf Pine to former mayor Jackie Warner and to long-serving Commissioner Jerry Le. Outgoing Mayor Pro Dr. Kim Wana McCrae delivered a farewell address summarizing accomplishments during her tenure, citing more than $5 million in state capital and infrastructure funding secured for town projects during the past six years.
The newly seated board also approved a consent agenda establishing the 2026 meeting schedule and reapproved existing board rules and committee appointments, noting that procedural adjustments could be made in January if needed. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn and a reception at the recreation center.
