Ward 2 alderpersons describe priorities for St. Charles neighborhoods and committees

On City Insider’s Inside City Hall segment, Ward 2 alderpersons Jamie Muns and Ryan Bongard described their community ties, committee work and priorities for the east side of St. Charles.

Bongard, a longtime east‑side resident elected to city council in 2021, said he chairs the Government Services Committee, which oversees utilities and public‑works issues. He also represents the city on the Fox River Dam joint task force, which is evaluating options — including removal or retention of the dam — in coordination with state and federal partners.

Muns, alderperson since 2023, is vice chair of Planning & Development and serves on the city’s 708 mental health board, a locally administered taxing body established under state statute 708 to allocate funds to community mental‑health services.

Both alderpersons highlighted Ward 2 amenities — Norris Recreation Center, St. Charles East High School, neighborhood volunteerism — and said residents’ most frequent questions concern development, traffic and the future of the Charles Town Mall site. They recommended that constituents use city email addresses as the official contact method so staff can track and respond to requests.

Each described civic engagement as essential to shaping local policy. Muns noted long‑running neighborhood programs and a history of local philanthropy; Bongard emphasized ongoing efforts to manage growth and traffic impacts as new retail and residential projects come online.
