Superintendent Nathaniel Wilson asks parents to complete Five Essentials survey

Superintendent Nathaniel Wilson asked parents and guardians to spend five to 10 minutes completing the Five Essentials survey, saying the questionnaire is anonymous and helps the district identify strengths and weaknesses.

"That survey is a completely anonymous survey, so we won't match your answers with your email," Wilson said. He added that the survey "gives you a chance to provide your opinion on what you think about the school and strengths and weaknesses that are being offered." "It'll take about five to 10 minutes of your time," he said.

Wilson said results contribute to the school's report card and its "summit of designation," and that parent responses can earn bonus points that may move the school from a "commendable" rating to "exemplary." He urged families to complete the survey by March 13 and noted that parents with more than one child should fill it out once per student: "I've got two kids. I'm filling it out twice."

Wilson framed the survey as a tool for directing resources and identifying areas for improvement: "That kind of helps us make decisions about how to allocate resource and what areas that we need to improve upon." He closed his request with a brief appeal to community pride: "Help us raise that bar for our schools. Go Tigers."
