During two public-comment periods at the Mount Clemens City Commission meeting, residents raised recurring neighborhood concerns about road conditions, river debris and abandoned vehicles.
Ruthie Stevenson (69 Bane Street) said repeated patching on Robertson and the east side of the city is insufficient and called for full replacement, asking how the work would fit into the city budget or whether outside funds might be available. "They were patching that's not going to work, it needs to be replaced," she said.
Rufus Jones (175 Clinton River Drive), who identified himself as a kayak user, described substantial floating debris and a large submerged log in the Clinton River that poses a safety risk for recreational boaters and kayakers. "It's dangerous...there's plastic floating all in the waters," he said, urging cleanup.
Denise Gold Smith (315 Clinton River Drive) asked the commission to remove vehicles that have been parked for years with expired plates and flat tires.
Commissioners thanked speakers for raising issues, said staff would follow up and suggested the concerns would be addressed in administrative responses or at future meetings. Staff also noted the city will provide more detailed packet descriptions and follow up where appropriate.
