School board approves attendance-zone rezonings and several charter and contract items

Charter and contract approvals: The board approved a five‑year charter contract for UCP Immersive Learning Academy (a full‑time virtual school authorized by the Charter School Review Commission) and approved contract modifications to allow Renaissance Charter School at Chickasaw Trail and Renaissance at Goldenrod to expand to include grades 9–12. Several trustees expressed concerns about delivering and monitoring ESE services in a full‑time virtual model; staff said the district will monitor data and make site visits (virtual and in‑person) and that the charter entity is an approved virtual provider under state process. Legal staff explained the district uses the state standard charter contract and therefore has limited ability to alter statutory template provisions, though staff negotiators worked to resolve funding and operational issues where allowed.
Nominations and appointments: The board nominated and approved FSBA (Florida School Boards Association) advocacy committee representative and alternate and confirmed primary and alternate board and citizen members to the county value adjustment board, all by unanimous vote.
